Louise’s 1961 Mk1

Louise’s 1961 Mk1

Portfolio

Louise’s 1961 Mk1 Austin Seven 850 Mini came to us with a little piece of silver screen history. For this particular Mini had been originally bought new by the 60’s celebrity actress Diana Dors and had been acquired by Louise whose father was a good friend of Diana. Louise, in her youth, had used the Mini to travel to and from University and in later years. Fast forward to the early 2010’s, Louise founded a sheep sanctuary in Dorset and the Mini was often used to transport sheep to and from the veterinary surgery. Eventually the Mini became so tired it was retired to a field alongside of the sheep sanctuary and left there to gently decay away. The sheep were quite fond of the Mini and would often take shelter inside the Mini. The sanctuary is located on a flood plain and on two occasions in recent times the river burst its banks and completely submerged the Mini under water. Minis had always been prominent in Louise’s childhood as her father had been a good friend of Sir Leonard Lord who had been the Chairman of the BMC (British Motor Corporation) during the 1960’s and a number of Minis had been in the family at that time. Louise decided that the time was right to have her little Mini restored and so we were lucky enough to be chosen to restore this Mini with a wonderful historical past. We carried out a full strip down and rebuild restoration and brought the Mini back to its former glory of the 1960’s.
